MAKE UP IS NOT FOR BEAUTIFICATION ALONE!!

Is makeup for beatification only? , I noticed when the term 'MAKE-UP" is mentioned majority  think about beautification alone. Make-up for beautification is a Layman's view because Make-up is broad, it diversifies and as funny as it may sound it is important in other segments and occupations. Here are some of  types of make-up and brief explanations on them.

1. NUDE MAKE-UP;
This type of make-up is very common. It is one of my favorite type of make-up, also known as  'Day-to-Day" make-up. It is very easy to achieve and looks like ones natural face as the name implies, it simply pop out your natural beauty and requires lesser products than the other types of make-up. This make-up doesn't require the use of bold colors as it is meant to look natural as possible.

2. BRIDAL  MAKE-UP
; The bridal make-up could easily be confused with the nude make-up, although they have several differences. The bridal makeup is usually done on brides mostly during their white wedding, it is to note that bridal make-up varies in countries due to different cultures. This makeup  looks natural on the face with bit of colors, glitters and a catchy gloss. The bridal makeup is basically for beautification, as the bride needs to look extra good on 'D' day. It requires several makeup products to be achieved flawlessly/perfectly.

3. TRADITIONAL MAKE-UP; This is as well used on brides but during their traditional wedding, it could also be used during cultural exhibitions/ festivals. A lot of cultures have their different trad makeup. Being a Nigerian and specifically a Yoruba girl, permit me to talk about my culture's traditional makeup, Here bold colors and glitters are allowed as the traditional attire itself is majorly colorful. It's main purpose is beautification.

4.RUN-WAY MAKE-UP; This is usually done on Models for either run-way or a magazine photo-shoot could be confused as festival makeup as well, It is usually very dramatic and requires creativity. Bold makeup colors are allowed and attachments of creative materials such as cloth, stones etc. could even be a piece of fruit, iron strands and so on. it requires a certain level of skills and creativity before one can achieve this look flawlessly. It is time costly and expensive.

5. EFFECT MAKE-UP; This type of make-up is used to give a certain effect, create an illusion of a fictional character or something creative and different than the human face and features, it is mostly used by fictional film makers in making their actors look like the created fictional character. It is also called the Special effect makeup.It makes use of other materials aside make-up. It is barely ever for beautification and it takes a whole lot of time and is one of the most expensive type of makeup.

6.PROSTHETIC MAKE-UP;  This makeup uses  prosthetic molding, sculpting, and casting techniques to create an advanced cosmetic effect.This kind of make-up is also mostly used by film makers for scenes where happenings like accidents, bleeding wound, a swollen leg, mashed body parts, burns, scars and so on, The type of  Make-up which makes an old person look young and a young person look old is also known as prosthetic makeup. This makeup uses other materials aside make-up like prosthetic clay, fake blood, cotton wool and so on. This type of make-up requires advanced skills and creativity. It is popularly known as SFX makeup.

7. DRAG MAKE-UP
; This is a type of make-up used by Drag queens i.e males who dress in female clothing and act in exaggerated femininity,  therefore their make-up is usually exaggerated as they make use of dramatic eyelashes,weavons, brows. This type of makeup is rare in my country, Nigeria.

8. STRAIGHT MAKE-UP; This is usually soft and mild and is used in theaters  to project the presence of an actor/actress on stage, as the face of the actor is highlighted so that the audience can connect with the actor, making use of just powder and maybe lipstick to give emphasis on the actors mouth. It is also known as “STAGE MAKEUP”
